"Western Explorer Heartland Trip"
June 5-20, 2004
On June 7th Brian from Explore America called me and asked if I was available to go to Reno, NV. the next day to help out on a trip. I said I was available and interested. When I found out it was a three bus tour with one hundred and fifty students for thirteen days I was a little apprehensive. I had never worked with such a big group and when I got started I was more than a little overwhelmed with the amount of students and the different personalities in the leaders and chaperones. Of course I made some mistakes and it was challenging, but once got to know some of my passengers I started to feel more comfortable in my new role. I have to say that I have already visited all the destinations on this tour many times but I loved this trip!!! As a whole this group was more fun more interesting and made me feel more like a leader than any of my previous trips. By the time it was over I grew very attached to you guys, especially Bus #3. So I want to thank you guys for your great attitudes and excellent behavior. Thanks for making me feel welcome and most of all I want to thank you for looking at me as friend and a leader. I'll miss you all and I hope we can stay in touch throughout the future.
