![]() So how does it work?
First you will book your trip, either here on the web site or by phone. You will for your trip pay with cash, creditcard or traveler's checks on the day of the tour. On that morning your leader will pick you up at one of our convenient meeting places (see margin on left side of homepage for locations). Then you are off and running on your adventure. First stop will be the grocery store to pick up supplies for those gourmet camp meals. Then the group will make it's way to the first destination. You will be camping when visiting the National Parks and the coast but staying in hostels or hotels in San Francisco and in a hotel in Las Vegas.
When you get to your destinations your trip leader will have plenty of ideas for hikes and sights in which you are free to participate or do your own thing if you want. On each tour there are also numerous optional activities and attractions available. Your leader can make reservations for you if you are interested. Just be sure to fill out the BOOK THIS TOUR page completely to let us know if you are interested in a particular optional activity.
Recommended Lodging/Our meeting Points
We recommend that you stay at one of the recommended lodgings listed in the left margin of the homepage on the night before your tour and upon returning to Los Angeles. The reason for this is because that is where we will pick you up on the day of the tour and where we will drop you off when we return to LA. All of these locations are safe, economical and geared to the backpacker. If for some reason you can't make it to one of these locations you will need to call us so we can try to arrange an alternative for you. If you are staying in Hollywood at the beginning of the trip, it is recommended that you stay at one of the other hostels on the beach side of town when returning to LA (backpackers, Hermosa, or Santa Monica) so that you will not miss part of your LA city tour (Beverly Hills).
