Mangalia
![]() Mangalia on the Black Sea coast was our first stop. Here all three of us guys stayed with Sandu and Anca
while the ladies stayed elsewhere. This was our dinning room and our first breakfast in Romania.
![]() There were many interesting foods available for our varied tastes.
![]() Monet's favorite, "Crap" which is actually carp in English. We didn't eat the heads they were just for
flavor in the stew. Jun did eat the packaged "Crap" though. It's "Premium" and quite good on toast.
![]() Trust me the soup was great fish heads and all when cooked over an open flame.
![]() Our gracious hosts in their lovely garden.
![]() Some of the places we visited included the elementary school,
![]() The shipyard
![]() ![]() the hospital,
![]() the Black Sea, (Monet helping Kathleen into the water and Phyllis already in)
![]() and the archeological museum. Mangalia is built upon the ruins of the ancient Roman city, Callatis.
![]() Wherever we went Monet was always making new friends.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Our first Rotary meeting.
![]() Everywhere we went the Romanians provided us with top notch entertainment at festive dinners.
Here is a group of traditional Romanian dancers. Lots of fun!!!
![]() Mangalia definitely had the best parties.
![]() One warning though be sure to take it easy on the palinka
which is the local traditional home brewed alcohol.
![]() Trust me I'm speaking from experience!!
![]() But mostly we just had a good time drinking the great Romanian beers!
